State recognition to be made mandatory for CBSE schools

KOZHIKODE, October 9, 2011

The recognition of the State government will be made mandatory for running CBSE schools in the State, Minister for Education P.K. Abdu Rabb has said.

Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, Mr. Rabb said the new move would give more legal powers to the State government to control and monitor the functioning of CBSE schools.

“It will also empower the government to cancel even the recognition of schools on notice of any malpractice related to the employment of staff or intake of students,” he said.

Norms on postings

According to Mr. Rabb, the new guidelines, expected to come into force from next academic year, would strictly put a stop to the appointment of unqualified or untrained teachers as per the individual discretion of the management. “A major development in the area is that any individual can lodge complaint against such managements to the government demanding legal action,” he said.

Mr. Rabb made it clear that the government did not want to encourage the opening of more number of CBSE schools in the State other than fostering the existing institutions in the government and aided sector.

NOC applications

The Minister said that the No Objection Certificate (NOC) applications so far submitted by various managements would be processed shortly as they had been waiting for the same for the past five years.
